Riffle
Clean up huge Spotify playlists like Tinder. A song shows up, swipe right to put it in the new playlist, swipe left and it's gone. An iPhone app, still in progress.

Try it
Swipe a card right to keep the song, left to skip it. The ← → keys work too.
You probably know this: over the years all kinds of stuff piles up in your liked songs or an old playlist, and at some point nothing fits together anymore. Cleaning that up in Spotify is super annoying because you have to move every song by hand.
Riffle works like Tinder: one song at a time, with a short preview, and you swipe. Right puts it in the new playlist, left tosses it. If you want, only one genre, say just hip-hop from all your playlists. And at the end Riffle even orders the new playlist so the songs flow into each other.
Spotify doesn’t make it easy
In February 2026 Spotify took a bunch of stuff away from small apps like mine. Genres, previews, an artist’s top songs, all gone. Almost every feature needed a workaround, for example Riffle now gets genres from the iTunes search.
What’s next
Riffle already works with a real Spotify login and real playlists. It’s meant for anyone who wants to clean up their playlists. Right now, though, Spotify only lets five people use apps like this until it approves more. You can already try the swiping below, with made-up songs.

What I learned
Spotify makes life unnecessarily hard for developers.
Riffle vs. Spotify by hand
How long the cleanup takes, roughly estimated.
| Riffle | Spotify by hand | |
|---|---|---|
| Per song | better: about 5–10 seconds (listen, swipe) | about 15–30 seconds (find the song, menu, add to playlist) |
| Playlist with 50 songs | better: about 4–8 minutes | about 13–25 minutes |
| Liked songs with 500 songs | better: about 40–80 minutes | about 2–4 hours |
| Previews | better: start by themselves | start every song yourself |
| Just one genre from all playlists | better: yes | no |
| Order with smooth transitions | better: yes, Riffle does it at the end | no |
| Who can use it | only 5 people right now (Spotify's limit for new apps) | better: everyone |
Ahead: Riffle 6×, Spotify by hand 1×. Source: Estimate, not a stopwatch measurement – about 5–10 s per song with Riffle, roughly three times that in Spotify because of all the steps per song.
