PixelHome
My apartment as a pixel floor plan in Home Assistant. The lamps glow on the plan in their real color, a tap switches them, and open windows turn red. Still in progress, maybe for everyone someday.

Try it
Tap a lamp to switch it, long-press to pick a colour. The window opens too.
Most smart home apps look like a spreadsheet full of switches. I wanted to actually see my apartment. So I built a pixel-art floor plan for Home Assistant, and everything happens right on it.
Every lamp throws its own glow on the plan, in its real color and brightness. Tap to switch it, long press to change color and brightness. An open window turns red. And when the 3D printer is printing, its camera shows up on the plan. I use it on my phone, on a tablet on the wall and on the TV.
The cover image is made up by the way, my real floor plan stays private.
What went wrong
For three versions not a single button worked on the phone. With a mouse everything was fine, with a finger nothing. The reason was nasty: when you lift your finger, the browser says you “left” the button, and that cancelled every tap. Nobody noticed on the PC because all the tests clicked with a mouse. Since then everything also gets tested with simulated fingers.
What’s next
Right now PixelHome only fits my apartment. At some point anyone should be able to use it with their own floor plan. Until then it’s still “in progress”.
